Project Details
Project:
Canterbury Christ Church University, Anselm & Invicta Buildings
Education:

We have
enjoyed many projects with Canterbury Christ Church University
(CCCU), none more challenging than creating a new lift shaft and
well through the Senior Common Room, The Entrance Foyer and
Financial Department whilst all remained fully operational.
The first phase was completed on nights with handover at 6am
each morning.
The works comprised of:
- Extensive Protection of existing furniture & structure.
- New Services.
- Temporary lighting.
- New Lighting.
- New flooring.
- Redecoration.
The second phase comprised:
- Extensive protection, hoardings, signage etc.
- The construction of a lift well and shaft.
- Installation of a new lift.
- New automatic door to the entrance and lobby.
Also included was a new lift in an existing shaft in the nearby
Invicta Building.
The builders works for this was limited to extending the shaft
through the roof and some relatively minor internal alterations.
The Invicta Building was also fully
operational during this process.
As with most educational establishments the operational/ educational needs require top priority and this project was no different with considerable safety and access issues and the need to accommodate exams in the adjacent hall.
Close liaison with the Estates Department Team assisted in ensuring the project.
